Role of women in Civil Disobedience movement

   There was a large participation of women in Civil Disobedience Movement.
• Thousands of women came out during Gandhiji's Salt march.
• They participated in the protest marches, manufactured salt , and picketed foreign cloth and liquor shops.
• Many went to jail in urban areas.
•  They considered service to the nation as a sacred duty of women.

However for a long time Congress was reluctant to allow women to hold any position in the authority in the organisation.
