The Cherry Tree

1. What question does Rakesh ask at the end of the story?

Ans. At the end of the story Rakesh asked his grandfather that he wondered if  the feeling he experienced by touching the cherry tree was similar to have a divine essence.

2. What do you think he means by this question?

Ans. All of us want to acquire the essence of a heavenly bliss by achieving something unattainable . We always look forward for an opportunity to do something innovative that would benefit a lot of people . By developing a cherry tree from a seed Rakesh has also done a great job. So he is very proud of his contribution in the well being of the society. He accorded himself as a benevolent being who has done the noble work of creating a giant tree. The omnipotent is known to be the creator of the world - Rakesh also considers his job to be to some extent equivalent to that of the father of the universe - Thus he is extremely delighted , his joys knew no bounds on his unexpected achievement. Out of this irresistible mirth he tried to equalize his noble endeavor with that of the almighty - The given question is a mere exhibition of this feeling.
