On your way home from school, you witnessed an accident. Write about what happened, who was/were injured, the reactions of the bystanders and what you could do to help

It is rightly said that an accident won’t arrive with a bell on it’s neck. The day before yesterday I became an unfortunate eye witness of a mishap. It was absolutely like a bolt from the blue. Like the other days, I was returning from school at around 4 pm when all on a sudden I was in a melting pot . Neither could I tolerate the suffering of the victims nor could acquire the courage to step forward and help them.  I was waiting in the zebra crossing when I noticed a young mother with her two kids did not follow the signal and tried to cross the road and they were knocked down by an upcoming bus which lost control because of the uncertainty of the event .The mother was spot dead and the small children were severely injured.

The bystanders were very angry with the driver , But some onlookers said the fault was not of the driver . The entire road was flooded with blood stains . They arranged a car to hospitalize the children immediately. Although there were many pedestrians but only a few of them came forward to help . Many of them accused the mother for the incident but did not actively participate in the rescue operations. The traffic was stopped for two hours. Police arrived the place and took the body of the mother for post mortem. I could not help standing there for almost an hour like a stone statue . I was so taken aback by the accident that I was unable to decide what to do. I could not even come back to home as I started feeling sick .I started vomiting . Somehow I could control myself and called my mother from there . She came rushing to rescue me.

This  small incident had a deep impact in my juvenile mind. For the next  one week I could not concentrate in my studies , I experienced bad dreams at night and whenever I used to close my eye the plight of the small children and their helpless cries haunted me .I was so much mentally depressed that my mother had to consult a few doctors to take me out of that trauma. May be I am too small to help them actively by taking the victims to the doctor or calling police and inform them about the pathetic Incident ,but I felt really bad about the children who lost their mother for ever and were injured seriously . After the incident my mother did not allow me to come home walking but whenever I cross that road in my new vehicle , everyday I search for the Pedestrians who were present that day to ask the whereabouts of those two children- the innocent victims of the accident.

Reading comprehension 1

Read the following passage carefully and answer the questions that follow: Theodoric had been brought up by his mother, screening him from the hard realities of life. When she died she left  Theodoric alone in a world that was as real as ever. He had been staying at a country vicarage, the inmates of which had been certainly not brutal. On a particular day he set out on a journey by train. The pony carriage that was to take him to the station had never been properly ordered; and when the moment  for his departure drew near, The handy man who should have helped him was no where to be found. In this emergency Theodoric found himself obliged to collaborate with the vicar daughter in the task of harnessing the pony which necessitated groping about in and ill-lighted stable which smelt of mice. As the train gilded out of the station, Theodoric's clothes were giving out  an odour of mice. The only other occupant of the compartment, a lady of about the same age as himself seem...

The Lithosphere

The outermost solid surface layer of the atmosphere is called Lithosphere. It is also called Crust. The word lithosphere is derived from Greek word "lithos" which means "stones". The surface of the earth is not flat . It is uneven, with different kind of landforms - mountains, hills, valleys and plateaus. The crust is covered by the thin layer of soil . The lithosphere is the realm of the Earth, through which most of the needs of human beings are fulfilled. Land is needed for human settlements . Soil is essential for agriculture. Industries get vital minerals and other raw materials from the lithosphere .
