How to console a person who has lost all his hope

Consolation is a job whereby we motivate someone to overcome one's disappointment and think of some optimistic possibility to revive the situation. Whenever some of my friends become depressed I feel very sad and I always endeavor to make them delightful enough to overcome the crisis. I strongly believe that to remain happy one does not need to have enough money or one has to achieve something beyond one's capacity .Rather, One needs to be very much active and energetic to accept the difficulty in a bold manner . One needs to think positive . Positive thinking plays a very important role in the mental upliftment of an individual , It encourages them to involve themselves in solving the problem and a true problem solver never gets disappointed under any crisis rather he always remains bold enough to face the hurdles of life.

Very few person can play the role of a true motivator. Mostly people surrounding us discourage us to take any new initiative by highlighting the negative aspects again and again by giving us thousands of examples of failure .One must not rely on these people rather one must trust someone who always shows one the right path. who always encourages one to go forward in life accepting the upcoming hurdles. Difficult situations are parts and parcel of our life we cannot ignore them but a courageous person never lose hope and go forward by passing the crisis. I always try to help my friend overcoming such difficulties because I believe that is the right job of a friend .   I got such a noble opportunity recently when my friend Nilabhro got disappointed when he scored very low in his final term exam of class vi . He infact was too much depressed and was in a mood to discontinue his studies. On hearing this from my other friends I immediately went to Nilabhro. I found him seating alone in a dark corner. On seeing me, he busted into tears. I consoled him and told him not to cry , but he went on saying that "everything is finished ", " I can't study with you all any more " , " I need to join the juniors in their class"- "The school has not promoted me" - " My father has beaten me yesterday "- he went on.....I stopped him . I said no point lamenting on what has happened , I also advised him not to be in the past tense , accept the present situation boldly and to go forward. I suggested him to study very hard so that he can overcome his failure next year and score highest in the class. He told me that his several neighbours came to criticise him that morning and they have made him even more disappointed . I consoled him that "A friend in need is a friend indeed " - I promised him to be with him and also I gave him an assurance that I will always be there to help him out . I reminded him about his outstanding performances - his past achievements and also told him not to lose hopes . I encouraged him to bring back that performer Nilabhro again so that he can prove himself once again and that will be the right way to answer all the humiliation  he had to undergo.

Initially , Nilabhro did not respond. I felt he was not convinced but gradually I understood that he agreed with me and he again started smiling and promised me that he will never lose his patience in future . He thanked me to be with him in such a crisis and then we togetherly made a plan for his studies . He promised me that from the very next day he will work very hard and assured me that he will score very good next time and took an oath that he would try to excel in his studies .

I felt very happy that I could take Nilabhro out of his depression . It was really a great achievement on my part . I was very much delighted. His Parents were also very happy to see the progress of Nilabhro .

Reading comprehension 1

Read the following passage carefully and answer the questions that follow: Theodoric had been brought up by his mother, screening him from the hard realities of life. When she died she left  Theodoric alone in a world that was as real as ever. He had been staying at a country vicarage, the inmates of which had been certainly not brutal. On a particular day he set out on a journey by train. The pony carriage that was to take him to the station had never been properly ordered; and when the moment  for his departure drew near, The handy man who should have helped him was no where to be found. In this emergency Theodoric found himself obliged to collaborate with the vicar daughter in the task of harnessing the pony which necessitated groping about in and ill-lighted stable which smelt of mice. As the train gilded out of the station, Theodoric's clothes were giving out  an odour of mice. The only other occupant of the compartment, a lady of about the same age as himself seem...

The Lithosphere

The outermost solid surface layer of the atmosphere is called Lithosphere. It is also called Crust. The word lithosphere is derived from Greek word "lithos" which means "stones". The surface of the earth is not flat . It is uneven, with different kind of landforms - mountains, hills, valleys and plateaus. The crust is covered by the thin layer of soil . The lithosphere is the realm of the Earth, through which most of the needs of human beings are fulfilled. Land is needed for human settlements . Soil is essential for agriculture. Industries get vital minerals and other raw materials from the lithosphere .
